New Baby Allison Charlotte

We have a new addition to our family, baby girl named AllisonCharlotte born on Friday morning to my oldest son. She is a tough little beauty with lots of hair. This is her with her "Big Sister" Veronica who looks totally confused by this whole thing. My Veronica is a total sweetie and has been staying with me for a while during baby stuff. She has made tents under my longarm machine and there have been many dinosaur fights in the tent! Arrghhh!

Quilting day and Black Beauty

I thought I'd post some more pictures of my quilt Black Beauty.
There are 32 plain blocks that I quilted a different picture that I drew into each block. There are flowers, birds, rabbits, waterlilies, and then some of the blocks have some applique in them. I took a long time to collect the fabric for the nine patches too as they are mostly rose related fabrics.

These are not embroidered, they are quilted into the quilt as I did all the other quilting.

The black picture is of the corner of the quilt which is done in metallics and some Rainbows thread.

I did start sewing my Quilt for an Hour triangles today. They are sewed but not pressed or trimmed yet. I hope to get to them after supper. I think the colors will turn out quite lovely. It was a long day and I spent a lot of time trying to organize my sewing room a bit, I found a lot of stuff I had lost.

Hour a Day quilt

I chose some fabrics for my quilt that Judy L is featuring. I really like the pattern that the borders and sashes made and that kinda tipped the scales to doing this project. Also, I knew I could get it from my stash and use up scraps. I do have the components cut out, had just enough of the poppy fabric which I do love.

One of the granddaughters came by the other night for Halloween. No one celebrates it on the real day any more and there are trick or treating hours now. Gone are our fun days as Halloween Hooligans! I loved it and it was my favorite holiday. Everyone expects so much from Christmas and Halloween is just fun. Here is my little hooligan... The tutu that she is wearing was her mothers tutu and its probably at least 20 years old, so the first thing Veronica did was rip it at our house and she has another party to dress for. Handy-dandy Grandma got her needles out. She also insists on wearing Dora bandages in the most obvious places.

Baby Quilt is quilted

The rush job baby quilt is quilted and still needs binding but I will have to get that done before Friday. Here it is in the quilting process.
I did some peacock meandering around the pieced blocks and a feather meander in the ABC panel. Also some straight work in the border and small clam shells. It looks sweet and old fashioned and I'm pleased.

This shows some of the quilting and the Friendship blocks that I pieced.

This is the corner block. Love the puppy with the chicks on his head. I will use the red gingham as the binding for this quilt.

The show in Marshfield was great. There were lots of good vendors and good prizes. I won a first place ribbon in my category, my sister won a first in her division plus that quilt won Best Machine quilting for the show and I quilted it! Deanna won Honorable Mention and was thrilled. We had a good day and were in HIGH spirits.

I started Judy L's Hour a Day quilt tonight and cut most of it out except for all the scrap squares. I think it will be fun and I'll post my fabrics tomorrow maybe.
